NSRH Job Openings

Outreach & Digital Strategist | We are no longer accepting applications for this position.

The Opportunity

Sexual and reproductive health is an integral component of a person’s overall health and well-being, yet millions in the US lack sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRH) access, especially people who are low income, of color, LGBTQ, young, or living in isolated rural areas. While nurses provide most reproductive and sexual health care services in the United States, this content is under-represented in nursing education and continuing education programs.

NSRH is an organization that is working towards equity and diversity at all levels of our organization and operations, and we recognize that we still have a long way to go. The only way to ensure access to comprehensive healthcare for all is to situate SRH  within the larger context of systemic injustice and oppression. In order to do this, we must cultivate partnerships and opportunities for collaboration with the organizations working on these issues, particularly those working on racial justice and LGBTQ rights. We also recognize that we must address inequities in the nursing field and SRH sector if we want to achieve quality, compassionate healthcare for all. We cannot continue to simply do business as usual in the way we recruit and build our network.

Our present network consists of an amazing group of clinicians, activists, and changemakers and yet, Black, Indigenous, people of color, and trans people remain woefully under-represented in our organization and in our network. In order to address these gaps, we must conscientiously work to ensure that our communications and outreach efforts are better targeted to reach these communities so that we can begin to broaden our network. It is therefore critical that, in addition to helping the organization increase its visibility within the SRH community, the Outreach and Digital Strategist is able to cultivate relationships with organizations that focus on broader issues including racial equity, decriminalization of marginalized communities, housing justice, prison reform, etc.

This person will work with the Program Directors, Membership Manager, and Operations Manager to promote NSRH’s programs, including virtual and in-person events, member recruitment, our Online Institute, and recruitment efforts. A substantial part of this communication and outreach work includes creating content, designing promotional materials for media and target audiences, and executing social media campaigns on a variety of digital platforms. An excellent writer and communicator, the Outreach and Digital Strategist is focused on increasing and broadening the organization’s visibility with the SRH, RJ, and RR sectors.

This a full-time position reporting directly to the Executive Director. Black, Indigenous, people of color, and trans people are strongly encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in folks living in the Southeast.

About the Organization

Mission Statement

Nurses for Sexual and Reproductive Health (NSRH) provides students, nurses and midwives with education and resources to become skilled care providers and social change agents in sexual and reproductive health and justice.

We envision a world in which all people have access to just and dignified full-spectrum reproductive and sexual health care.

To achieve universal access to comprehensive, full-spectrum SRH, all nurses must have access to education and training from pre-licensure to professional development opportunities for seasoned clinicians. They must also understand how economic and socio-cultural factors impact patients’ sexual and reproductive lives and reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. NSRH is helping to realize this vision by providing nursing students, nurses, and midwives with the education, professional development opportunities, and advocacy tools they need to become social change agents in sexual and reproductive health and justice.

We have identified 3 Strategies for addressing this mission:

  1. SRH Education and Training
  2. Professional Development, and
  3. Advocacy Tools and Training

In order to meet these objectives, we need to grow our staff. We are presently a team of 3: our Operations Manager is based in the home office in St. Paul, MN, our Director of Advocacy and Engagement is based in Phoenix, AZ, and our Executive Director is based in Chicago, IL. We are in the process of hiring a Membership Manager and a Director for our Training in Abortion Care Program. We also have an amazing Board of Directors composed of SRH practitioners and advocates located throughout the country.
